Meritus provides critical infrastructure protection, security services, and operational support to federal agencies throughout the United States.Meritus is committed to supporting national security missions by delivering highly trained personnel and operational excellence to government partners.Meritus Solutions Group is seeking a professional Armed Protective Security Officer (PSO) to support federal facilities and personnel in Presque Isle, Maine.This position is ideal for retired military personnel, law enforcement professionals, or experienced security officers seeking part-time employment with a predictable weekday schedule.Protective Security Officers are responsible for protecting federal facilities, personnel, visitors, and government property through access control, security monitoring, patrol operations, emergency response, and force protection activities.This is a part-time position.Typical schedule includes:Monday through Friday8:45 AM – 12:45 PM and/or12:15 PM – 4:15 PMSchedules may vary based on contract requirements, site needs, and shift assignments.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Provide armed security services at designated federal facilitiesControl access to federal buildings and restricted areasMonitor security systems and conduct security inspectionsProtect personnel, visitors, equipment, and government propertyConduct patrols and perimeter security checksRespond appropriately to emergencies and security incidentsPrepare accurate incident reports and daily activity logsMaintain compliance with federal, contract, and company requirementsCommunicate professionally with government personnel, visitors, and the publicPerform additional security-related duties as assignedApplicants must:Be a U.S. CitizenBe at least 21 years of agePossess a High School Diploma or GEDHave a minimum of:Two (2) years of security experience, ORPrior military experience, ORPrior law enforcement experienceSuccessfully pass:Federal background investigationMedical evaluationDrug screeningBe able to obtain and maintain required government clearancesBe able to read, write, speak, and understand English fluentlyBe capable of preparing clear and accurate written reportsSelected candidates will attend required new-hire training in Massachusetts.Training includes:Approximately 12 days of paid trainingCompany-paid hotel accommodationsSecurity certification trainingContract-specific operational trainingAll required training must be successfully completed prior to assignment.Applicants must possess:Valid Driver's LicenseThe following certifications will be provided by the company at no cost:CPR / First Aid / AED CertificationOC Spray CertificationBaton CertificationThe company will also assist candidates with:Government Security Clearance processingMaine State Background Check requirementsCompensation Type - AmountCurrent Base Pay - $30.13/hourCurrent Health & Welfare Benefit - $5.10/hourCurrent Total Compensation - $35.23/hourEffective October 2026Base Pay - $31.64/hourHealth & Welfare Benefit - $5.20/hourTotal Compensation - $36.84/hourHealth & Welfare benefits are provided in accordance with applicable federal contract requirements.Eligible employees may receive:401(k) Retirement PlanHealth InsurancePaid VacationHoliday PayEmployee Referral ProgramBenefits eligibility may vary based on employment status and applicable contract requirements.Presque Isle, MaineWork is performed on-site at designated federal facilities and associated locations within the service area.This position requires successful completion of federal background screening and the ability to obtain and maintain required government security credentials.Continued employment is contingent upon maintaining eligibility and meeting all government suitability requirements.Meritus Solutions Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer and maintains a workplace free from discrimination and harassment.
